F A Q We have someone in our group that just wants to watch us hunt. What would be the price for them? We do not charge for non hunters in the spread as long as you are not in a mixed group. What is the minimum and max for groups or will I be mixed? We will be running groups of 10-15 for goose hunting, that means if you are a single hunter you will be mixed. We don't do it vary often but do hold the right to cancel hunts if there are not enough people. Duck hunts there is a 2 person minimum What Dates do you hunt? We hunt Fri.- Mon. Do you hunt snow geese in the spring? No, we don't hunt snow geese at all. We are set up to hunt Canadas, but we do have the occasional flock of snows that come in.( some years are better for snow than others) When is the best time to come? The best time to come for geese is the two weeks before Christmas and the two weeks after. The best time for ducks is usually in November and January. The best time for crane will vary. What type of gun, choke and shells should I bring? We have seen birds harvested with everything from a 10 gauge, to a crane with a .410. The best gun would be a 12 gauge, with a 3 in. mag. and an improved cylinder or modified choke for ducks, geese and crane. For duck hunting #4 steel shot is best, while #2 steel shot for geese and crane are preferred by most. When do I pay! The deposit is due at the time of booking and the rest is due before the hunt. You don't pay we do take you!!! Can I bring my dog? If you are hunting in your own group, Yes. If you are hunting in a mixed group, No, its up to the group. if duck hunting you are responsible for all birds in the water. How many guides will we have? Goose hunting we usually have two for normal groups. Duck hunting, we usually only have one. Should I tip my guide/s? If you think that your guide worked hard to give you a good hunt and to put you on birds then please do. It is all up to you. An average tip is about $20 per hunter (example 3 hunters= $60). Refunds and deposits There are no refunds on deposits. The deposit is for a number of guest if that number fails to show the deposits will be lost and the hunters that show will pay the remain of the balance before the hunt. Other Info *Birds have to be in the hunters possession at all times until they are back at the lodge This means you will carry your birds out of the field and take them back in your vehicle. If you leave your birds alone for any reason they must be tagged with a TPWD wildlife document. At no time will any hunter ever place or take birds in the freezers. Ask a guide to assist you. Birds that you are going to have mounted must be tagged and logged into the cold storage log.*
Big Honker Guide Service Rules -ALL hunts will be paid before the hunt unless an agreement is made - All paper work will be filled out before the hunt -No birds can be left behind (you shoot them you take them) -No loaded firearms in vehicles or lodge -Each guest is responsible for his/her own gear and litter -No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed while on the hunt -Leave open gates open and closed gates closed -Abide by the rules of the State of Texas, any unlawful hunting methods will be reported -Each person is responsible for keeping his birds separate from other birds until cleaned -No hunter will ever pile birds up on cleaning table until told to. -No trucks are allowed in the field unless other wise told. -Guest staying at the lodge BHGS is not responsible for and stolen or lost items -All deposits are none refundable and non transferable.
Not abiding by the rules will result in the cancellation of you hunt and no refund will be available, and you will be asked to leave.
