Duck Hunts

Some hunts take place on ponds that are
flooded corn fields like these two ponds

The duck hunting in this area has been
very good in the past few years. We hunt many different types of water. We have
access to everything from bare ground water holes to full blown flooded timber
and everything in between. We have many species of ducks including Mallard,
pintails, gadwalls, widgeon, teal, and many more. All ponds are
scouted on a daily basis. We have harvested 70 percent mallards the last few
years.

When you
get to the waterhole in the morning the guide/guides will set up the decoys. The
hunters can help if they wish or can get their own stuff together. We
occasionally set goose decoys if there have been geese on the pond. We have had
some pretty good goose shoots while on duck hunts.
We
will hunt in the water in a handmade blind, kneel behind some kind of cover on
the bank or sit in goose chairs with ghillie blankets.
The place we hunt depends on the hunters. If you bring waders we can
get into the better areas. If you do not have waders we will hunt on
the bank. Either way we will have a pretty good shoot.
The hunt lasts until we reach our limit or until noon.
